Simple Tools, Surrendered Servants, Sacred Opportunities, and Saving Faith
by Live Global Team Member, The Ancient Path Project
In one country in SE Asia, The Ancient Path Project is partnering with the missions mobilizing branch of a local association of churches. Currently we have a major initiative in one state where more than a dozen unreached people groups (UPGs) reside. Many of these UPGs have no Scriptures in their mother tongue and have never met a Christian believer.
Although these indigenous missionaries hold the same national passport, they are definitely “cross cultural” missionaries who have relocated from their native area and are now learning the language, customs and, most importantly, the beliefs that keep these unreached people from accepting the gospel.
This unique group of workers have chosen to bring to the community skills and services such as farming, lessons in computer, English, and music (guitar and keyboard), a barbershop, a motorcycle repair shop, and a sewing school. By making a contribution to the local society they can gain opportunities to talk about the Creator God who sent His Son to pay for the shame of sin and deliver them from bondage to spirits and superstitions. Simple tools in the hands of these surrendered servants are opening the way for sacred opportunities.
When COVID-19 sent the entire country into lockdown, these local missionaries mobilized food relief provided by North American Church Partners. Here is a testimony of how God used this global hardship to open doors for the gospel.
I’m (Ms.) Kane*. I belong to Danu people group in ** State. Buddhism is my religion since birth. I and my daughter make a living by collecting trashes such as plastic bottles.
One day a man came and told me about Jesus. My silent response is “he is just a god of Christianity. I have nothing to do with him.” We have been living a desperate and lonely life having no one around us. We have no home. Sometimes we got something to eat and other times we go without food. Nobody cares we exist. We were so desperate to make this life have some meaning.
As we were living this hopeless life, two men would come to us and give us some help such as rice, oil, and packs of salt. This makes me feel cared and loved for the first time in my entire life. Furthermore, this increases my desire to know more of Jesus whom these two men told me about.
As the days go by, these two men help me in everything I need. As they keep helping me understand who Jesus is and teaching me about the Bible, I began to understand about saving faith.
I here testify that these two men truly help me know who Jesus and that I believe in Him as my Lord and Savior on July 12, 2020.
Simple tools, surrendered servants, sacred opportunities, saving faith.
