God Orders Our Steps - by Total Breakthrough
Total Breakthrough, a marketplace ministry for over 25 years, has reached unbelievers through more than 90 events across the U.S., with participants from various countries around the world. With tens of thousands making decisions for Jesus and submitting prayer requests, we have dedicated our resources to following up with biweekly encouraging emails focused on discipleship.
Locally, Total Breakthrough has partnered with Sondoulous, an organization dedicated to discipling the WNY community. I have also been a keynote speaker for VIA:Visually Impaired Advancement, where I had the opportunity to share my story of faith. For the past four years, we’ve been monthly guests on WDCX Radio with Linda Penn and Robbie Raugh, encouraging listeners toward a deeper relationship with the Lord.
Scripture says in Psalm 37:23, “The steps of a good person are ordered by the Lord.” When I look back, it’s clear the Lord not only directed our steps outside the Church but truly ordered them. Here’s a recent example.
In January, I called my cousin Joe, a partner at One Touch Direct, which employs over a thousand people. The first thing he said was that he was sitting with his partner Chris—and had me on speaker. Chris then exclaimed, “It’s you!” For context, they were discussing who should speak at their upcoming leadership event. The topic: When Life Throws You a Curveball. Chris asked if I’d consider speaking.
The event was in Tampa, and I was three hours away—scheduled to return to Buffalo before the event. It wasn’t convenient. I’d need to make arrangements in order to stay. And—I should mention—I’m blind. Still, they asked me to consider it.
Later that day, I received this text from Chris: “I have been praying for God’s direction in a guest speaker. When you called today, I instantly teared up as I felt the Holy Spirit. I believe you can deliver an incredible message about being dealt a curveball and how you overcame it. You have an incredible testimony to deliver. If you can make it, it would mean the world to me. If you can’t, I understand. God is good all the time!” My response was, “Chris, after listening to that text, I have nothing to say but yes—I’d be honored to do it.”
I became the keynote speaker at the One Touch Summit leadership event, where I shared the biblical story of David and Goliath and then shared my own Goliath story with an audience of mostly unbelievers.
Praise God—He truly does order our steps.
