A Journey of Healing - by Lighthouse Family Retreat

"I know for certain that we never lose the people we love, even to death. They continue to participate in every act, thought, and decision we make. Their love leaves an indelible imprint in our memories. We find comfort knowing that our lives have been enriched by having shared their love.” – Leo Buscaglia

Grief is a journey that no one should walk alone, and at Lighthouse Family Retreat, we are honored to create spaces where families can heal, connect, and find hope together. One of our Sunrise Weekend families shared their experience attending a bereavement retreat—a time that brought both comfort and community:

"My cup is full, and my heart even fuller after a weekend in the mountains with Lighthouse. Audrey and I had the opportunity to return to the Sunrise Weekend Retreat this year, and words can’t begin to express the gratitude I feel for this experience. Last year, this was the first grief retreat we went on together, and we had no idea what to expect. It truly paved the way for our healing journey and the mother-daughter team we were becoming. We were navigating our own grief individually while also figuring out our new dynamic as a family of two instead of three. It was overwhelming, to say the least, but we entered in with open yet broken hearts.

This year, we returned knowing what the weekend would bring, and we were ready for it. We were excited—excited to see the friends who supported us through last year’s retreat, to reconnect with an amazing mother-daughter duo we met at another retreat last summer, and to meet the new friends we knew would soon feel like family. And this retreat did not disappoint. These people—old and new—have become like family to us, and that is something I will always be grateful for."

Grief doesn’t have a roadmap, but healing happens in community. We are grateful to walk alongside families on this journey, creating spaces where love, support, and hope can shine through.
